CROSS COUNTRY

Cross country is an essential way of getting and keeping fit in all weathers, with training after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A few invitational races (friendlies) are scheduled between October and January in order to prepare athletes for the East Leinsters, in January. Students are divided into 4 separate age groups, depending on age - minor, junior, intermediate and senior. Last year,  our Senior team along with Karen Duddy, an inter, progressed to the Leinster stage and Muireann Neville, a 5th year, represented Muckross in the All Irelands. Here's hoping for this year!

The Minor Team and one Senior runner (Niamh Staunton 6th Year) qualified for the Leinster Cross Country race on Wednesday 15th February .

All girls ran well in tough races on the day in Santry Demense. The Minor team came 4th in the Minor race so narrowly missed out on qualification.

Millie Hayes (1st Year) came 15th in the Minor race which qualifies her to run in the All-Ireland race which is held on 11/03/17 in Newtownabbey.

Good luck Millie!
