Muckross dominate finals week in Three Rock

It was a year of major success for Muckross Park College. The girls in green proved that they were not to be underestimated early on in the season, when the Junior As, led by the phenomenal Niamh Shaw, won the Junior Cup 3-0 before Christmas. Inspired by their win, the Senior 1s went on to the Claudia Tierney final, where they comfortably beat Rathdown.

The Senior 1 team also proceeded to the semi-final of the league, a fantastic feat, but were unfortunately snubbed by Gerards, losing 1-0. The minor A’s, who have a huge amount of talent proving that the future of Muckross hockey is bright, unsurprisingly went through to both the league and cup finals, winning the league against Mount Anville.

The Senior 2 team, who were unbeaten for the entire season, were led by the cool, calm and collected Helen Barron. They eased their way to the league final, where they met old rivals Alex, and took it home with a 1-0 win.

The Junior B team unfortunately couldn’t get past Foxrock in the semi-final, although performing fantastically. The Junior As also fell short at the semi-final of the league, missing the hugely influential force at the back, Clodagh Ferry.  They lost 1-0 to Holy Child Kiliney.

The Senior 3 team got as far as the semi-final of the league but were hugely unlucky to lose out on 1v1s. The Junior C team also missed out on some silverware, losing to Sion Hill on 1v1s, in their final. The Junior D team also lost in their final, losing to Our Lady’s. The 1^st year B and D teams lost out on a place in the final, both falling at the final hurdle.

The minor B and C team brought home more silverware for Muckross, beating Mount Anville and Our Lady’s, up in Three Rock.

All in all it was a fantastic year for Muckross Park, winning silverware in every level, and proving their worth once again.
