The TY trip to ‘Peat’, in The Ark Theater
By Clodagh Cullen, Eabha Kernan and Róise Ryan
The trip to see ‘Peat’, was part of the TY module; Creative Practices.
Creative Practices is a module that gives students a sample of the art of theatre, which could offer an alternative career path or become a potential hobby during exam focused exam years. This year was centered around; singing, clown makeup, puppetry and yoga. However these are liable to change depending on the year group.
The play ‘Peat’ is written by Kate Heffernan and directed by Tim Crouch. It’s a lighthearted play staring performers; Curtis-Lee Ashqar & Kwaku Fortune, who play two young boys on an adventure in a local bog. Although the play is targeted towards younger children, our class was able to appreciate the underlying theme of grievance and how the actors managed embody these young teens so well, due to our studies in the Creative Practices class.
In conclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to see ‘Peat’ in the Ark Theatre and we would definitely recommend upcoming TYs to consider Creative Practices, as a module in future years.
Congratulations to Mrs. McLelland, Mum of Roisín and Maeve winner of our Christmas Raffle.
